Here's What to Do When Your Furnace Won't Ignite

February 23, 2017

We are trudging through the last of the weeks of winter but we still have to have our furnaces, especially during cool nights. There’s not a lot that is worse than laying down at night and realizing your furnace won’t start up. If your furnace won’t turn on, here are a couple things you can check yourself prior to calling San Antonio Air Service Experts.

Check Air Filters

You should change standard air filters monthly. If you don’t, they can become clogged, obstructing air flow and resulting in a furnace malfunction.

Check Your Thermostat

See if turning the temperature up a few degrees will get the furnace to turn on. If the current room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t run. Also, make sure the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”

Check the Power

It may seem ridiculous, but confirm the power switch next to the heating equipment is “On.” Even gas heating systems use electricity so confirm the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch was not accidently switched to the “Off” position.

If you check all these things and your heating system will still not start up, give San Antonio Air Service Experts a call at 210-570-9705 and we’ll come out and get you heating again as soon as possible.
