Service Experts Donates Over 300 Pounds of Food to Minnie's Food Pantry

August 20, 2016

The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Corporate Office in Plano, TX was honored to give more than 320 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in Plano, TX.

“Last September, I had the chance to get a group of colleagues to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was an unbelievable experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They go above and beyond providing food – they are a vital part of this community.”

Minnie’s Food Pantry was started by Cheryl Jackson as a way to celebrate her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent much of her childhood wondering if and where she would get her next meal. Not only does Minnie’s provide free healthy meals to families in need, they also hold classes to teach families how to utilize the food they get to create healthy, long-lasting meals. They also offer resume support along with budgeting and job classes to help members of the community get back on their feet.

Because around 50 pounds of food is given to each family to last them a month, Service Experts was able to feed six families for the month.

“Each member of the team was so excited that we had this food drive for them, and they even took time to show us their amazing facility,” Wilson said.
